“Why!?” Jack shouted at (m/n) who gave him an indifferent stare.

“Go ask them yourself, it’s a lovely tale. Now once they apologise for what they did, I might consider helping you and your little gang, but for now, leave me be. Today is one of the anniversaries of my… friends.” Jack was about to protest when the scenery suddenly changed, and (m/n) grabbed him by the throat, hanging him in the air. Jack looked down to see that he was dangling off of a cliff, right on top of boiling lava.\

“What the hell just happened!” Jack screamed as he clung onto (m/n)’s arm. (m/n) smiled before pointing all around him.

“This whole place is actually an illusion, the house you were at was too. But these illusions are portals to the real thing, so if I dropped you now.” He loosened his fingers a bit, causing Jack’s heart to drop. (m/n) smiled before continuing, “you’ll die. I know the weaknesses of all of the spirits and guardians, yours being lava. Regardless of how dead you already are, this’ll make sure you never live to see another day.” Then, the heat of the volcano vanished and they ended back in the graveyard of (m/n)’s mansion. (m/n) dropped Jack onto the ground, the latter falling into a heap. Jack stood up fast and looked around him, tapping against a tree,

“You mean, this isn’t real?” (m/n) sighed and nodded, before going back into his house. Jack was about to follow, but the spirit of Witchcraft appeared in front of him, scaring the living daylights out of the poor white haired teen.

“I warn you Jack Frost, unless you come with those four ready to apologise for what they’ve done to me, I’ll drop you into the volcano, and it won’t be pretty.” He then vanished again, and music came from inside the building. Jack clenched his staff quite hard using one hand, while the other rested on his heart, telling it to calm down. He took a deep breath, and turned around, walking for the exit.

“Jack! Did you find him?” North asked Jack, but before he could reply, Tooth looked behind him to find no one and wailed in despair.

“Oh no, he isn’t here. Did you not find his house? If not we can make a new map.” She kept on rambling on and on, each time Jack tried to say something else, she continued her rant. Finally deciding it was enough, Jack rammed his staff into the ground, causing a thin layer of ice to appear around them, forcing the fairy to shut up.

“Let me speak for a second! Geez!” Jack ruffled up his hair as Bunny and Sandy looked confused as to why he was so agitated. “I found him.” The others let out relieved sighed before North laughed and patted him on the shoulder,

“You made us worry, young Jack. Now is he outside, waiting so he can surprise us-,”

“But, he said that he would only… maybe… help us, if you call came to him and apologised for what you did to him.” The four guardians went ridged and gave each other these weird looks. Jack looked at each of them before he started to yell. “Why won’t you tell me what you did to him!? It’s bad enough he already threatened my life incase I came back empty handed, now tell me what the fuck’s going on!” Tooth gasped and Bunny pointed at him sternly.

“Language!”

“Don’t language me! I have no idea what the heck’s going on, and I deserve to know!” Jack shouted at him. They were all surprised at how serious Jacks outburst was, and they all looked at each other once more, before all nodding. Jack watched Sandy as he grabbed a chair placed it in front of him. Jack rose a brow. “What is this for?” North gave bunny a look before kneeling in front of him.

“Sit down, Jack. It’s a very long story.”

“It was around four and a half hundred years ago, that the great Witch-hunt started. Witches had hid amongst humans for centuries, dating way back to the Egyptians. The church had started this campaign after they found one witch out, to stop them from telling the truth to the normal humans.”

“What was that?”

“That god wasn’t real. And so, the first witch was burnt. But the man in the moon didn’t chose her, because she was the one that gave her race away. So instead, he chose the next one that was to be burnt. A young teen named Niko Albert. It was believed back in the early witch hunts, that witches could turn into teenage men, when they were younger. And so, Niko got accused of being a witch. He was trailed by fire, and died.” Jacks eyes widened, as North told him the tale.

“The man in the moon, seeing that this young man had a specific trait to him that none of the others had, he made him the guardian and spirit of the witches. The spirit of witchcraft. Unfortunately, this decision backfired. Only witches were supposed to see them, because only witches were supposed to believe in witchcraft. But at the time, everyone believed in it, so they all saw him. He tried to save the lives of many witches, but failed almost every time. Once he saved a young witch, by the name of Madlene. She was a beautiful witch, a kind one as well, who considered herself a healer, rather than a plain sorceress. And soon they fell in love.” Jack was about to ask what that had to do with the story, when North cut him off by continuing.

“But the house in which they resided in, the house in which he kept all of the witches he managed to save, was found. Over one hundred witches were found, including Madlene. Back then it was forbidden for witches to fight, so they all had to give in, while the only one who could get away was Niko. They tortured the witches for years, burning some of them straight away, while they kept others, to perform sick operations and experiments on. Soon enough, around one hundred years later, the witches race was almost extinct. There were only three witches left in captive, out of the thousands they had captured over the years. Then as the other two were burnt, it was finally Madlene’s turn.

Niko, who was still doing the best he could to protect the rest of the witches, knew he couldn’t reach her in time to stop her from getting burnt. So he came to us for help.” Jack listened carefully, not missing a single breathe that North breathed.

“We agreed. We helped him get to his destination as fast as we could, but then, we saw her. She was cut up, had too many bruises to count, clumps of her hair were singed off as she cried a storm. She then cursed that specific family, the one that had kept her alive for those hundred years only to suffer, and made sure that they never found happiness. The fire was then lit, and just as Niko was about to conjure up water to put out the fire, we knocked him out.” Jacks eyes widened as he sat up straight from his former slouching position.
“Why?” He asked as North looked down in regret.

“Because we were scared of her. She was powerful, and we didn't want someone more powerful than ourselves to roam around. We were selfish. Once she finished burning, and the people scattered, (m/n) woke up. He found her body scorched, and her skin black. Her once beautiful blonde hair had been singed off of her scalp. I remember he had cried, and that’s when his (h/c) hair had suddenly turned purple. He had screamed at us, telling us that he would never forgive us. His (e/c) eyes turned yellow as well. But just as he was about to curse us, he stopped. Tears ran down his face as some streaks of purple faded from his hair, turning back to it’s original colour. That’s when he turned and walked off without another word.” North finished.

Jack processed all of the information he had received, before excusing himself and standing up, attempting to go outside.

“Jack, wait!” Tooth called out, but the empty look on Jack’s face made her stop.

“I need some time to think.” He muttered, flying off into the skies.

And while Jack wondered what else his friends had done. A yellow eyed man, knelt at a grave, growing some purple flowers around it. He smiled softly as he petted the grave. He then stood up and went back into his house. And the name that resided on that gravestone.

Madlene Frost
