Literature Text

Jack sat with Jamie on the branch of a tree, both kept quiet as Jack had previously explained his worries over what the guardians had told him previously. Jamie had listened attentively and not spoken a word since then. Jack kept on thinking back to the guardians. Why would they lose the chance to save an entire race just because they were scared of a woman… or girl.

“I think you should ask them more questions, they’re your friends, I bet you they’ll understand that you’re curious. Now all you need to do is accept that they kept this from you for their own personal reasons, and that even the closest friends have things they’d rather never remember.” Jamie said after a while, smiling at Jack. Jack stretched and stood up.

“I guess you’re right… I should go shouldn’t I?” Jamie nodded and Jack picked him up, jumping off the tree before placing him down. “I’m going back Jamie, see you soon!” He called out as Jamie smiled and waved after him.

But just before Jack left, he felt an ominous presence behind him. He turned around slowly to see a cloaked figure behind the tree they had previously been sitting in.

“Who are you?” Jack asked the figure as it neared him and Jamie. It didn’t answer but placed a hand on Jamie’s head. Jack was about to attack the figure when it turned into smoke, dissipating in the cold winter air. He looked around, attempting to find the figure. But a small voice brought him out of his searching.

“Jack…” He looked over at Jamie and almost dropped his staff. Jamie looked at him with big eyes as he fell over.

“Jamie!” He jumped over to the child, and picked him up. He watched as black veins made their way around his face and down his neck, his breath turning ragged. “It’s ok, I’ll get you home!” Jack jumped up, flying straight for Jamie’s house. He reached the window and placed Jamie on his bed, before making a bunch of his toys fall down.

“Jamie, are you alright?” His mother called from downstairs. When she didn’t hear an answer, she walked up the stairs and walked into Jamie’s room. Jack watched him worriedly as his mother screamed, and ran over to Jamie. “Jamie! Jamie, baby, talk to me!” She waiting a few seconds for a response, but he didn’t say anything. She fumbled inside her pocket, ripping out her phone and dialling for the hospital.

“Yes, hello? My son is sick, very sick, he won’t respond. No, he had black veins and he’s- he’s barely breathing, please come help.” She sobbed into the phone while caressing Jamie’s head. She told them their address and within ten minutes, the ambulance was there. They rushed inside and helped Jamie out onto a stretcher. Jack followed closely to the hospital, and waited for the news of what would happen to his friend.

Jack entered the pole, where Bunny, North, Tooth and Sandman were stationed at for that current moment. When he walked in, North seemed much happier.

“Jack, my boy! We were starting to think you’d never come back!” He said heartily, while Jack just gave him an empty look. Bunny, catching on quite quickly, hopped up to him and looked him in the eyes.

“What’s wrong mate? You’re never this quiet.” Jack sighed as he pulled his hood down and looked up at the Easter Bunny. He searched for the words, but he ended up saying what he thought of in the first place.

“The person… The person who was making the children sick… He uh… Must have followed me to Jamie’s, because the next thing I know, they do something to Jamie and he becomes really sick. I wait a few hours, and the doctor comes out to tell the mother what happened. Jamie’s… Jamie is dead. He was killed by the sickness within a few hours.” Jack clenched his teeth as he walked away from the shocked guardians.

“Oh no… Jack!” Tooth called as she tried to follow him, but North held her back again.

“Let him grieve, Jamie was his first believer. It’s only natural.” And he shook his head, while walking over to the globe. Tooth looked after Jack, while Bunny sighed and hopped off to do something. The only one left was the Sandman, who was in deep thought. That was when it hit him, he knew who the one spreading the disease was. He was about to go and tell North, when he stopped himself. If he did that he’d have to tell them all the horrible things he did, including to (m/n). So he walked out of the north pole, and flew away on his cloud of dream sand.

Jack sat by the window that he had first sat at when he thought that the Sandman had died. He was grieving. He could still remember the look on Jamie’s mother’s face when †he doctor had told her that he had passed away. She had broken down into a crying mess, and Jack felt the need to do the same. But he didn’t. Instead he blamed himself, if he had protected Jamie this wouldn’t have had happen-

“He still would have died either way, you know?” A voice brought him out of his thoughts. He looked up to see a teenage boy in a green hoodie, with brown hair and green eyes. He stared at the boy as he smiled sadly at Jack, and turned to walk off.

“Wait, how do you know?” Jack called out after him, jumping from his position. The teen stopped and looked at Jack.

“Because who you saw wasn’t the person infecting the children.” He stated. Jack raised a brow and the teen scratched the back of his neck. “That kid had been infected for at least a week before he died. The problems with that disease is that you can’t trace it until five hours before they die. The person you saw was not the person infecting the children.” Jack narrowed his eyes and walked up to the teen.

“And how do you know, huh? I don’t recall you being there.” The boy sighed,

“No need to be so suspicious, Jack Frost. The tree told me.”

“The tree told you?”

“Yes.”

“So what are you, Mother Nature?”

“Her son, but close enough.” Jack stopped and got a closer look at the boy.

“What’s your name?” The teen smiled and ruffled up his brown hair as he held out his hand for a shake.

“Niko, nice to finally meet you, Jack.” Jack shook it, and then a question ran through his mind. He pulled away from the handshake and turned back to the window.

“So, who was that person then, huh Niko? Who was the person I saw there, and would they be able to tell me who the killer is?” Niko looked reluctant to answer, but then seemed to remember something and locked eyes with Jack.

“He could, but he isn’t easy to find. You see Jack, the person you saw. Was the personification of death.”
So, I bet you didn't expect that, did you? If you did, good on you, you pass the test (which one? (I dunno)) Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this and I will be updating it again on Sunday, so pls enjoy my other story in the time being XD
